Graduation season is full of excitement—caps and gowns, proud smiles, and a huge sense of “what’s next?” But for families, it’s more than just a milestone for your graduate. It’s a turning point for your whole family. One minute you’re reminding them to bring a lunch to school, and the next, you’re watching them cross the stage, diploma in hand. As a grad photographer in Bonnyville and Cold Lake, I’ve seen how emotional and fleeting this moment can be. It marks the end of an era—and the beginning of big changes for your family dynamic. And that’s exactly why this is such a powerful time to capture your family portrait.
If you’ve ever tried organizing a family photo session with adult children, you know how tricky it gets. Work schedules, school in different cities, partners, responsibilities—it can feel almost impossible to get everyone in the same place, let alone in front of a camera.
That’s why I encourage families to pause and make space for one last portrait—just as you are right now.
Your next big family photo might not be until a wedding. And while those moments are full of love, they’re rarely focused solely on your original family unit. There are in-laws, formalwear, and a dozen other things competing for attention. Those photos are beautiful—but they’re not this.
A graduation family portrait is your chance to preserve this exact chapter: the people who helped shape your graduate, all together before life shifts into something new.
In every session I photograph—whether it’s a solo grad shoot or a full family portrait session—my goal is to create something real and timeless. I focus on capturing genuine connection, natural emotion, and personality. Whether your grad is quiet and thoughtful, energetic and adventurous, or anything in between, we’ll create images that feel like them.
When families join in, we keep it relaxed. No stiff poses or forced smiles. Just real moments, guided with care, and captured with artistry. I’ll help you feel comfortable in front of the camera, so your photos reflect the closeness, the quirks, and the love that makes your family yours.
I hear it all the time: “We’ll do a family photo next year.”
But next year might bring a move, university, a new job—or a whole new life chapter that makes gathering everyone together a lot harder. I’ve seen families regret not taking this opportunity while everyone was still under the same roof. It’s so easy to let this moment pass by, assuming there will be more time later.
That’s why I gently encourage families to consider making space for this now. It doesn’t have to be complicated. It just has to happen while it still feels like home.
I believe that photos have the power to freeze time. And there’s something incredibly special about freezing it at graduation—before bags are packed, before the house gets quieter, before “just us” turns into something new. If you're a family in Bonnyville, Cold Lake, or anywhere in the Lakeland region and you’re celebrating a graduation this year, I’d love to help you capture this moment. Whether you’re planning a full grad photography session or just starting to think about a family portrait, let’s talk about creating something meaningful together. Because the truth is: your family, just as it is right now, is worth remembering forever.
